Space

To share a sentiment from our local grocery store; "This Is a Space of Mutual Kindness and Respect". We at Northern Hemi Folk feel the same about the space which we are sharing with you our clients.

Our hope is that we can all "Snob Less and Kind More." Let us set aside our egos and noise, allowing a meditative atmosphere to prevail. In doing so, we can engage in the greater conversation, realizing our interconnectedness and recognizing the strength in collaboration over competition.

While conversation during a session is never discouraged, I recommend a meditative approach by focusing on the task at hand. You know your body best, and over time, you can help guide me to specific locations in your muscles where the epicenter of your pain is produced. I believe a great session occurs when both the practitioner and the client work together. The more focused and relaxed you are the better the results.

I can't say I've ever designed a space for massage therapy, but I do enjoy a challenge. However, what I always strive for with a space is a particular feeling. I like things to feel right—it's a visual thing but also the sense you get when you enter and simply want to stay and appreciate the experience it offers.

For me home has always been tied to work. Growing up on a farm, designing remotely, and working on our properties. The pandemic brought more people home to work, Michel spends 50% of her working hours in the home office. All this to say that the idea of having a home massage therapy studio wasn't that strange of a concept to wrap my head around.

We welcome you to our home and hope that you will enjoy your exclusive experience while you are here.

The impact of financial obligations and time stresses associated with leasing and maintaining an office space is a noteworthy mention. At this time having the studio at home eliminates concerns about being away from loved ones and prevents physical burnout from long hours of consecutive massages to cover costs.

Utilitarian in its approach, the massage room has what you would expect but things have been distilled down to what I would consider essentials.

For those who like natural light, this space accommodates. For those who enjoy a darker room experience the windows can be covered.

It's a beginning, and we are thrilled if you wish to be involved. It is my hope the space becomes a positive contribution to a community of individuals who value kindness, honesty, and understanding.

More to come!
